All Forest County State funded ATV/UTV Trails are open.
Snowmobile trails are not open for ATV/UTV use by County Ordinance. Please stay on the approved trails and routes. At this time not all Counties have their trails open and Forest Service trails are still closed so be aware of where you are at. Please use caution and appropriate speeds when using the ATV/UTV trails.
ATVing is a growing sport in Forest County. Currently, we have 2 state trails and the information on all trails can be found at the links below. Some townships have some of their town roads open as ATV routes. A town road is only an ATV route if marked with a green and white route sign. Please contact Town Clerks for questions on ATV routes. It is YOUR responsibility as a rider to know the laws, both State and County. Please be sure to read the Forest County Ordinance for Snowmobiles and ATVs (located on the Hunting on County Forest tab) and visit the WDNR website under our Education and Resources tab.
The Nicolet State Trail, Wolf River State Trail, and Valley Trail are open from the beginning of May until the close of snowmobile trails.
Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs) are legal to ride on ATV trails and routes in Forest county. Both ATVs and UTVs have to display a license plate with the registration numbers as required by the Wisconsin DNR. More information on the license plates and other ATV/UTV changes can be found at the WDNR website under our Education and Resources tab.
